Someone you have never met writes to say your state may be holding property connected to you, your business, or someone whose estate you are handling. Every instinct says scam.
Keep those instincts.
They are useful. Verify the property. Verify my registration. Call the Treasury if you need to. I would rather begin with an honest question than manufactured trust.
The person who researched your property is the person who answers when you call.
I'm Rhian Romain, founder of Maintain and Advance LLC and the person behind Steward Recovery Services.
I am also a Pennsylvania Treasury-registered finder. I research potential claims, speak directly with owners and families, help identify the documentation a case may require, and stay involved while the claim moves through the process.
Steward is intentionally owner-operated. You are not passed from a salesperson to a call center and then to someone who has never seen your file. When you call, you reach the person who did the research and understands why you were contacted.
Why I chose this work
Maintain and Advance LLC, the company behind Steward, builds practical growth and operations systems for established contractor businesses: capturing leads, tightening follow-up, and keeping work from slipping through the cracks.
Most of that comes down to one thing. Value that already belongs to someone should not be lost to disorganization or a step nobody followed up on.
Unclaimed property is the same problem in a different form.
The property is not a prize or a favor. It already belongs to someone. The claimant does not have to prove that they deserve it. They have to establish that it belongs to them, or that they have legal authority to claim it for an estate, trust, or business.
What it takes is diligent research and follow-through, the same discipline the rest of my work is built on. That is what drew me to it.
What my role looks like in practice
A name search is often only the beginning.
Property may appear under an earlier address, a middle initial, a maiden name, a business name, a misspelling, or the name of someone who has died. Estate claims may require proof of death, proof of identity, and proof that the person signing has current legal authority.
My role is to help make that process understandable and manageable.
- Research the property and likely claimant.
- Identify relevant name, address, household, business, and estate connections.
- Explain the likely administrative path in plain language.
- Create a case-specific documentation checklist.
- Help coordinate signatures and notarization when required.
- Organize claim materials.
- Help respond to additional-document requests.
- Keep the claimant informed as the case progresses.
I do not decide whether a claim is approved. The state Treasury reviews the evidence and makes that decision. If a claim is approved, Treasury sends the recovery directly to the claimant.
You can do this yourself.
You may file an unclaimed-property claim directly through the Treasury without hiring a finder and without paying a finder fee.
Some people should choose that route.
Steward Recovery Services exists for people who would rather not research every property connection, interpret a long documentation request, coordinate signatures, manage estate records, or follow the case alone.
Hiring me is not purchasing access to money that is otherwise unavailable. It is choosing guidance, organization, research, and continued involvement through a process you are legally allowed to handle yourself.
That choice should be made with the facts in front of you and without pressure.

Especially when a family is handling an estate
Estate claims often become difficult at the exact moment a family has the least energy for another administrative problem.
The first question is usually not, "Who is related to the owner?" It is, "Who currently has legal authority to act?"
That person may be an executor, administrator, trustee, surviving joint owner, or court-appointed successor. The correct path depends on the facts and the documents already in place.
I help families research the likely path, organize available records, communicate what Treasury is requesting, and understand the next administrative step.
I do not determine heirs, interpret wills, resolve disputes, open estates, or give legal advice. When a case requires court action or a legal opinion, I will say so plainly and recommend that the family speak with a qualified probate attorney.
Why the name Steward
Steward Recovery Services is a division of Maintain and Advance LLC.
The name reflects the standard I want the business to follow: property should be handled carefully, information should be protected, choices should be explained honestly, and the person responsible for the work should remain accountable.
Steward serves two connected groups.
For claimants, we provide research, documentation guidance, claim coordination, and estate-related administrative support.
For registered finders and recovery professionals, Steward also develops technology and professional services that make case management, investigations, document collection, claimant communication, and notary coordination more organized.
The audiences are different, but the goal is the same: make recovery work clearer, more accountable, and easier to manage.
What I hold myself to
These are not marketing slogans. They are the rules I use when deciding how the work should be done.
Tell people the free option first
Every claimant should know that the state Treasury allows rightful owners and authorized representatives to file directly without paying a finder fee. That fact should be clear before anyone signs an agreement.
Never paid before the claimant is paid
There is no upfront finder fee. The fee is governed by a written agreement and becomes due only after a successful recovery. If the claim does not result in a recovery, no finder fee is earned.
No pressure and no invented deadline
States generally hold unclaimed property for the rightful owner until a valid claim is established. I will not create a false deadline or tell someone that another person can simply take their property. A claimant should have room to verify the facts and make an informed decision.
Protect personal information
Sensitive information should not be sent through an ordinary contact form or unsecured email. Social Security numbers, identification documents, death certificates, court records, and financial records should be requested only when legitimately needed and exchanged through an appropriate secure process.
Say when the case needs someone else
Some matters require a probate attorney, tax professional, financial adviser, court filing, or specialized investigation. I will not pretend finder registration makes me qualified to provide advice outside my role.
Why you do not see a wall of testimonials
Steward Recovery Services is a new division, and I would rather say that plainly than fill this page with vague reviews, anonymous quotations, or claims you have no way to verify.
When real claimants choose to share their experiences, and give permission for those experiences to be published, their words may appear here.
Until then, independent verification matters more than a testimonial I selected myself. You can verify my registration, confirm the free Treasury option, read the written agreement, and ask every question you have before deciding whether to work with me.
